The 2015 UNECE Ideas for Change Award competition, which is open as of 21 January 2015.

2015 is the year of Sustainable Development and it’s time to take action for people and the planet.
On 14 April 2015, we will hold the 1st ever Start-ups event at the UN in Geneva. The event will show-case how innovative entrepreneurial talent can contribute to meeting today’s social and environmental challenges through new groundbreaking ideas that can become successful businesses.

The competition is open to young companies and to teams of entrepreneurs, researchers and students from the UNECE region. The deadline for entering is 28 February 2015. Finalists will be invited to present their projects to a jury and to the participants in the 2015 UNECE session, a high-level inter-governmental conference, where our member States will commit to actions to advance the sustainable development agenda in the region in the years to come. Winners will be honored at an award ceremony during the session.

This book aims to demonstrate that various creative and smart routes to excellent solutions are possible, by analysing success stories in different areas of local public management from seven European cities in the EPSA scheme – Bilbao (ES), Birmingham (UK), Mannheim (DE), Milan (IT), Tallinn (EE), Tampere (FI), and Trondheim (NO). It concludes by presenting seven steps leading to excellence. The only thing left to find out is: are other cities ready to take on the challenge?
